Upcoming Comics

May 9 & 10
Headline: Mutzie
Feature: Ralph Tetta

Mutzie's career path runs through virtually every area of entertainment, including television, radio and even the music industry. He has consistently performed as many as 200 comedy shows a year, making him one of today's most successful comedy stars.

On stage Mutzie is like the eternal class clown, never passing up the opportunity to get a laugh, a very likeable guy talking about everyday things that everyone can relate to. Mutzie doesn't think he has fans worldwide, just friends who stay in touch and don't mind waiting in line to see their buddy make them laugh. The Mutzie show includes music, a few props, some home grown characters and improv that is second to none. Mutzie's rapid fire improv skills have often been compared to Robin Williams, and it's this uncanny improv ability that makes it possible for audience members to see two, three, even four different Mutzie shows in the same week.

After dabbling in radio comedy, writing bits for a morning and afternoon drive program on WCMF 96.5 FM in Rochester, and improvisational comedy, hosting a night of improv at the now defunct Rochester Yuk Yuk's, and writing comedy columns for local newspapers, Ralph is living the dream as the Club Manager/House MC at the Comix Cafe in Rochester, NY, as well as featuring and closing road gigs across the country. Blending a healthy disdain for the frivolous way in which we piss away our national heritage with nipple rings, dumbed-down movies and TV programs with a real sense of humor, Ralph can be found entertaining (and occasionally alienating and causing discomfort to) comedy club audiences everywhere. A Gene Perret disciple with the influences of Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Robert Townshend, Eddie Murphy and Bill Hicks, Ralph tells the truth ("Because I want to") and the truth is not only funny, but it will set you free.

May 16 & 17
Headline: Jim Holder
Feature: Rob Anderson

Jim Holder is an 18-year veteran of stand-up comedy who has headlined comedy clubs from coast-to-coast. Jim started his career at The Comedy Workshop in Houston, Texas, home of the "Texas Outlaw Comics" such as Sam Kinison and Bill Hicks.

From those early influences, Jim developed the passion for stand-up comedy that he carries today. With an attitude aimed at making people laugh uncontrollably, Jim strikes incredibly close to home with his cynical descriptions of everyday subjects. His comedy is sometimes silly and hard-hitting, often spontaneous and interactive, but always funny. The question Jim receives most often after his show is "When are you coming Back”

Rob Anderson is the product of a liberal military family, an oxymoron in itself, a father who retired a Colonel, and a mother who works in theater he was brought up to believe that if you can't win them over with a song and dance, then run them over with a tank. His easygoing conversational style and witty insights into family and relationships create a strong connection with audiences. He is spicy, irreverent, and just charming enough to win anyone back on his side even if talking about a subject that makes everyone a little bit uncomfortable. Rob finds humor in everything from the most mundane to the most obscure and leaves audiences howling for more.

May 23 & 24
Headline: Tim Statum
Feature: Big B

Entertaining audiences wherever he goes, Tim is a Birmingham native who will keep you in stitches with his southern style humor and storytelling. Tim incorporates real-life stories of growing up in the country with classic stand up comedy to provide a hilarious evening for all ages. His life is like a lyric from a Skynyrd song and he just loves to share. Another one of The Comedy Zone's "Stars of Tomorrow"

It's not "His Fault" and Big B. has just the way to explain that to you. From very humble beginnings, he will leave you busting at the seams as you relate to everyday situations you often hear about, but rarely think can happen to you. All the way from the back of a trailer park near you, he lets you into his world of friends and family that are "just a little bit different than everybody else." Midgets, Pimp, and Trailers oh my! Big B. will have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what he's going to say next. From Siamese twin doctors to midget detectives, his off-beat brand of humor can only be matched by the wits of his grandma. A Must-See show, believe me, you won't forgive yourself if you just hear about him at the water cooler!
